1. How many stairs does the challenge involve? 37 levels of climbing up a total of 630 stairs. It is anticipated that elite climbers will take approximately 4 minutes. Most participants are likely to take 7-15mins to make it to the top. 2. How fit do you need to be to participate? This challenge can be taken up by most fitness levels as you needn’t run the whole way. Simply choose a pace that works for you as faster runners can overtake if required. 3. What time does my category start? Individual Runner - 7.30am Team Runners - 7.45am Team Walkers - 8am Individual Walkers - 8.10am *Double Trouble - 8.20am (Double Trouble is an opportunity to do a second climb at no extra cost. Contact organisers if keen to take on a second climb) 4. What do I do when I arrive? When you arrive at the Shangri-La Hotel, Sydney simply go to the rear of the hotel, collect your timing tag and event bib, leave any bags in the storage area and start warming up. Categories will be called to the start line as per times on the website. When you make it to the top you will receive a finisher’s medal before sitting down for a sumptuous breakfast with a view over the Sydney Harbour. Event times are listed on the website when you finish and if you’re keen to access a certificate you can simply print one out with all your race details on there – nice!! 5. What will the breakfast include? Breakfast will be a sumptuous buffet style with a view that is hard to top anywhere in Sydney. 6. Can spectators come to level 36 on the day? Sorry but only event participants are allowed at the finish line on the day as this level has a strict capacity and there simply will not be room for people beyond our climbers, hotel staff and event volunteers on the day. 7. Do I have to fundraise? No, fundraising is encouraged but is not compulsory. If you would like to support the GO Foundation simply go to the 'Fundraise Now' button at the top of this page. 8. What happens if I can't participate on the day? Email Active8Change at [email protected] no less than 3 days prior to the event and we will happily transfer your registration to a friend. Please note that no refunds are provided. 9. How do I get there? As the Shangri-La Hotel, Sydney is located in one of the busiest locations in Sydney we recommend using public transport if possible. How do I access results and event photos. At the completion of the event all results will be available on the website via the results tab. Photos will be available at no cost. All participants will receive an email from Active8Change with details about accessing photos. 12. Will there be first aid support on the day? Yes, qualified first aid support will be available on the day. 13. Why is it a 37 level climb if we finish on level 36? All participants start at the rear of the hotel and the first flight of stairs takes you to ground level. From there it's all the way to level 36 giving a total of 630 stairs and 37 levels. |
