All event bibs are yours to keep! What to Expect on the Day / How it Works Whether you are a runner or a walker you will notice your heart rate will rise dramatically as you climb. For this reason we recommend that all participants utilise the cardio warm-up provided by our start line PTs. The aim is to increase your heart rate by 25-30 beats per minute just prior to participating. Individuals will be sent off one at a time with approximately a 15 second gap between participants. Teams will line up together at the start line, with each individual member sent off at 15 second intervals. We suggest that slower team members go first, followed by those who are likely to be a bit quicker. All persons will start from the Clifford Street starting line. For running teams, Buddies Challenge, Schools Challenge your individual times will be added together after the completion of the last persons arrival at the observation deck. The team with the lowest combined time is deemed the overall champion for that category. Please note that all participants in a team must complete the climb in order to be eligible for prizes in respective categories. For runners/climbers, a stair challenge is a short duration, high intensity activity. Most participants can expect to complete the challenge within 18-20 minutes. Please see the 'Training Page' for tips on preparing for the SkyPoint Sea to Sky Q1 Stair Challenge. As the stair challenge seeks to be COVID safe for all participants, staff and volunteers, please allow extra time to exit Q1 post event as we will be reducing lift capacities on the day. Please be assured that we will however look to have people exit level 77 as quickly as practical while maintain covid safe measures. *It is very common to experience a cough in stair challenge events. Most people assume that it is due to poor air quality in the stairwell, or that there is excess dust, but that is not the case. It happens in any air environment, even outside events. COVID Safe Measures Stair Challenge Australia, SkyPoint, Q1 Resort and Spa and LIVIN have all been working behind the scenes to ensure the safest event possible for all participants. We are adhering to the Queensland Government Covid Safe Event Checklist and the Return to Play Guide to ensure that all pre-event and and on event day processes are considerate of safety.
